In The News

ImageSometimes I wonder why I bother to read the news when it’s filled with sad, horrific events. It makes me really question humanity and fear what our children have to look forward to.

Here is an article about a mom in California who repeatedly used drugs while breast feeding. Now she faces murder charges in her son’s death.

Court documents show Stephens was warned months before her son’s death to stop breastfeeding because Ryder had high levels of methadone in his bloodstream.

The family tried to help the baby, but the system kept allowing her to keep the child. The child was brought to the hospital before. The mother drove off the road and CPS was called by the police, but still nothing was done. Why?!

CPS Deputy Director Michelle Callejas said approvals sometimes take awhile.

In a later assessment, the agency claimed Ryder faced a low risk of future mistreatment.

Why do we give birth mother’s all these chances? Why did this baby have to die?

Here is another article about a preemie who was found in the trash in New Jersey. Luckily some boys found him and the baby boy will survive. We live in this world where we pay millions of dollars to athletes and actors but we are constantly cutting funding for schools, the poor and the mentally ill and it sickens me. The article ends with this quote:

“There’s so many childless couples out here, I’m quite sure someone will adopt the baby and the baby will go to a good home,” said neighbor Sheril Shaw.

Luckily there are people like this anonymous couple who realizes how difficult raising children can be, especially a child with special needs, which gives me hope. They saw a family struggling with their son in a restaurant full of people, paid their check and wrote this note. Image
